Behind the store
Add to our ever growing list of ways we are hoping to connect with you all more, cue On the Go Blog! Here you will find more info on who we are, what we are wearing, eating, drinking, and mostly importantly, what we are shopping for.
First, let's talk about how we got here...hop aboard our imaginary time machine and let's travel back to 1988, Kindergarten, a time when LA Gear sneakers, acid wash jeans, and tons of high waisted pants donned the pages of the Sears catalog ( you know you remember the Sears catalog, that thing had just about everything, I could ever dream of buying in it! ) that is where Anna and I first met, but it wasn't until five years later that we became life long friends. In fifth grade we bonded over our love of tumbling, matching bodysuits and scrunchies, and boys( maybe me a bit more than Anna ). Fun fact, to this day Anna can still do a back handspring.
Over the middle and high school years we survived countless boyfriends, heartbreaks, sleepovers, school dances, fashion hits and misses ( I prob had a few more misses than Anna ) and one very memorable trip to Cowden, IL where Anna's dad made me bait a cricket on a fishing hook, followed by me getting a splinter in my toe and Anna's dad cutting it out with a pocket knife. Did I mention, I have only been to Cowden, IL once? In 2001, the year Britney wore a yellow snake during her performance at the MTV VMA's ( seriously FREE Britney! ), Anna and I started college together. We went to Southern Illinois University, where you could mostly catch us wearing either hoodies to class or a new outfit from Express. We also spent many a night at the now closed, Pinch Penny Pub. After graduating, Anna followed love to Springfield, IL and became a teacher, and I moved to St Louis, MO and started working in the renewable fuels industry. In 2010, we both became mothers for the first time, we even randomly had the same due date for our boys, but they ended up being born 5 days apart.
Fast forward to 2016, the year choker necklaces made a comeback, and Rianna debuted faux fur sandals, Anna, still in Springfield, IL and me, now in Nashville, TN, came up with the idea of opening our OWN online boutique. We both knew we were starting something BIG, but I don't think either one of us could have dreamed where we would be today. This year we are opening our FIRST brick and mortar location at 3063 Hamlin Pkwy, Springfield, IL 62711 ( come by and see us in August ), AND we are launching our blog to take you all along our journey of life moving forward.
Whether you have been with us since we started On the Go Boutique, or found us sometime in the last few years THANK YOU! We wouldn't be here without you! Stay tuned...
